Background[]

Cole was born in Glendale, AZ, to a higher-middle-class family. His parents are Commissioned Officers in the US Army. Because of his parents' backgrounds, He felt that it would be up to him to follow in their footsteps. His parents encouraged him to go into the armed forces, but he didn’t want to go overseas. He felt that he would be better suited to serve his local community. Eventually, he and his parents settled and decided that he could be a police officer in Glendale. Whereas gang members, drug dealers, and thieves were all too common in his high school; Because of this, Cole had always looked down on petty criminals. Cole’s hatred for these criminals began when he was a freshman. While in school, he would walk to his classes through the corridors, but every time he would turn a corner, there would be a drug sale or something going on that would cause havoc in the school. It got so bad at one point that his high school made front-line news for one student taking the life of another student over a drug deal gone bad. This caused the entire school to go into a state of desperation, installing metal detectors, and doing mandatory searches on every student as they walked in the door.

Cole was completely innocent in this but still had to go through these things because he was in a forced, aggressive environment. While in school, he was known to keep to himself and keep things private. Cole was kind of an outcast in his high school. He didn’t want to get involved with all of the petty crime that was happening, so he tried to avoid making friends for the most part. He would do his school work and turn it in on time, but never really focused too hard. These actions made him an average B-rated student. He graduated high school with a 3.3 GPA, and he received several college offers. He didn't know where he wanted to go, but he thought about going to community college before university. Cole wanted to be an investigator to work with the fire department to specialize in arson cases. Due to this, He went to Glendale Community College, where he got his associate’s in Fire Science. Once he graduated from Glendale Community College, He continued his education at Northern Arizona University (NAU), where he majored in Criminal Justice. During his time in college, he decided that he would like to get out of his hometown after all. Cole saved up money from his scholarship refunds and had enough for a one-way ticket to pretty much anywhere in the country. After much deliberation, he decided to move to Los Santos to get a fresh start. Once he moved to Los Santos, he decided to look around for a job. After all, he didn't want to go straight into joining the Police Department or the Department of justice. He wanted to serve the country but didn't want to join the military, so he decided to just find a modern job and worked there for a while. He eventually thought that because he had a degree in Fire Science, he could go to Los Santos Community College to get the training to be an EMT. Midway through the course, he gets a call from his mother that his father was killed in combat in the middle east. He decided to take leave from college and go back home for a few weeks to mourn with his mother and friends. His mother gives him money to return to Los Santos to finish his EMT education but decided to change to homeland security. Upon graduation, he then decided to go back working for a modern job until he could apply for the police force.
